Express Custom business cards! [Moo.Com]

MOO and me.

A few weeks ago, I found myself in need of personal business cards, and at extremely short notice. The reprographics firm I have often worked with in Dallas would not have been able to churn out new cards for me within that short, 1-2 day window.

Another hurdle was that I needed a small set of cards (around 50-100 in number). I was testing waters—both with the design of the card itself and flying solo with business cards of my own (rather than linked to a firm).

Most reprographic and print work studios will require you to order at least 250 cards to make your order viable to them. At this point, I decided to look up MOO.Com, a website I had seen frequently advertised on social media, but had never explored myself.

My experience with MOO turned out to be excellent. I was impressed with its speed-to-output and delivery, and as a designer its palette of choices left me thrilled.

Here's how and why:

1) The numbers game: At MOO, ordering a set of 50 cards won't be problem. If, like me, you are experimenting with ideas for your cards and their desired impact, you won't be tied down to a large set of cards. I ordered 50 cards, and had the option to do a mix of front and back-of-card combinations even within that relatively small batch.

2) Fabulous Templates: It's not often that you can identify a large number of standard templates that you would love to use. MOO has hundreds of templates for business cards, in multiple categories, each reflecting different professions  and their styles well.3) Array of Customization options: Whether you are looking to bring in images of your own, or customizing the way the edges of your business cards will look and feel (like i did—rounded and proud of it!) the options to create something unique and representative of your personal style, in a short span of time, are endless. The online toolkit allows you to edit text formatting, color schemes, imagery,  edge and surface finishes, material used for printing and how the pack will read as whole.

FYI: The image above shows my first pass at creating cards with MOO, customization included. It took me 30 minutes to achieve this result.

4) Customer service and timeliness: Since I was strapped for time when I ordered my cards on MOO, I opted for the fastest delivery (next day shipping). When they arrived a few hours later than scheduled—early morning versus late night before—the entire cost of shipping was promptly refunded to me. Above all, reaching out to me and proposing this redressal was prompted by the customer service team at MOO, not me, the potentially anxious client!

I haven't got to trying other print products and services from MOO yet, but I hope to soon, and back. For now, if your needs are like mine, I encourage you to try MOO when you are seeking a unique, yet easy-to-create and produce business card solution.
